Proof of privacy — not just a promise.

What we collect

That's genuinely the whole list for a child. Here's exactly where each piece is used:

• A child's nickname and school year — so the tutor can pitch lessons at the right level. No real name is asked for.
• Which curriculum they're learning (NSW to start) — so content matches what they're taught at school.
• A parent's email address — the only real-world detail we ask for, and only from the parent, not the child. It's used to reset your parent PIN and to contact you during the pilot. It is stored on your own device; if you turn on optional cross-device backup, it's also used as a one-time sign-in link.
• Anonymous learning counts — things like "a maths session was started" or "3 fractions questions answered correctly" — with no names or ids attached (more in Where your data actually lives).

What we never collect

• No real name, photo, date of birth, home address or phone number for a child.
• No government ID of any kind.
• No location tracking.
• No advertising identifiers, and no third-party trackers or analytics pixels of any kind.
• No selling or sharing data with advertisers, data brokers or anyone else — there's no business model that involves it.
• No marketing profiles built from how your child learns.
• No free-text typing from kids in feedback — they tap a face and, if they want, a reason chip. That's it.

Where your data actually lives

• On the device, by default. A child's whole learning history — progress, mistakes, streak-free stats, everything — is stored locally in the browser on the device they use. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you turn one of the features below on.
• The optional parent phone view is end-to-end encrypted. If you turn it on, the child's device encrypts a progress snapshot with a key that only exists inside the private link you're given. The server stores scrambled ciphertext it cannot read — not names, not progress, nothing meaningful.
• Anonymous daily counts, with no names or ids. If usage analytics are on, a device adds up simple counts for the day (like "reading questions attempted: 6") and sends one anonymous batch. There are no names, nicknames, child or family ids, typed text, or precise timestamps in that batch — only a count, a rough school-year band, and the week you first started using SparkIQ.
• Optional cross-device backup, if you turn it on. Signing in with an email link lets your child's progress sync across your own devices. It's off by default.

How the AI helper works

Most of SparkIQ — the diagnostic, the adaptive tutoring, quizzes and spaced review — runs entirely in the app itself, even offline. For open-ended "why does…?" questions, an optional AI helper answers instead of the built-in engine.

• It runs on Cloudflare Workers AI, which states it does not use data sent to it to train AI models.
• The request is routed through a single choke-point we control, not sent straight from the child's device with a key it could leak.
• A child's nickname is stripped out before anything is sent, and the message is checked for things like phone numbers, emails and addresses, which are blocked.
• Fixed child-safety rules run on every request and every reply — including a step that watches for distress and points a child to a trusted adult and Kids Helpline (1800 55 1800) — plus daily usage caps per family.
• You can turn it off entirely from Parents → AI → Built-in (offline). Tutoring, adapting and practice all keep working without it.

How to delete everything

Deletion is self-serve and immediate — you don't need to email anyone and wait.

1. Open SparkIQ and enter your parent PIN.
2. Go to Parents → Children.
3. Choose the child and select Remove, then confirm.

This deletes that child's profile and entire learning history from the device immediately, and it can't be undone. If you'd also like any anonymous phone-view backup or cloud-sync data cleared, or you're not able to access the app, contact us via the feedback button below and we'll action it.
